The Beginning of the End

Once life was simple,
until I was twelve.
Then it became a living hell.

A man took my innocence and joy away.
It's a struggle to live each day.

I though I was safe in my home.
Yet, God wasn't there; He left me alone.

He said he would kill me if I scream.
I wish I could pretend it were a dream.

I wear a mask to hide the pain,
Fearful it might happen again.

I wear a mask to hide the shame,
and pretend everything's the same.

I wear a mask to protect my soul.
A man stole my joy and left a hole.
