Mom

My mom.
You loved me.
But didn't protect me.

You bandaged my scrapes.
But not my heart.

You created happy memories.
But couldn't erase the bad ones.

You provided me with necessities.
But forgot to nurture my soul.

You planted the seed and watered it daily.
But forgot to provide the sunlight I needed to
flourish.

You gave my guidance.
But not strength and confidence.

You held me tight to your chest with heartfelt
love.
But smothered my growth as my own person.

You laughed with me.
But did not hear my cries.

You always were in my heart.
But never there in person.

You wanted to be my friend.
But I needed a mom.

My mom.
You loved me.
But didn't protect me.
