Spring Equinox Sonnet

Forest Family

Quickening Flora, Mistress of Bud and Blade
Breathe out breeze
Rain, joy-weeping into rivers

Lissome Faunus, Master of Hill and Glade
Fevered pulse charges Spring
Thunder, your heartbeat overhead

Dryads rise from bear-branched bowers,
Dance so sap flows anew
Fertility restored, leafy life reborn

The Sun favors us again
Back from summer down under,
We greet you Sacred Star

A hoof breaks the crust of winter’s farewell freeze,
The smell of unbridled earth, a promise.
