Arachne

My Honored Parents

I was in a moonlit glen in a mystic forest
where rabbits ran and spyders wove their crystal webs.
A fox raced through the brush,
throwing up a shower of dew
that glittered like diamonds in the moonlight,
tiny cantilievered rainbows falling to Earth.
It was here I met the Goddess.
She was and ethereal being,
born of purity and light.
Her raven hair fell low over her breasts,
full with the milk of life.
Her deep green eyes were soft, inviting
as were Her arms.
I ran to Her and we embraced.
Her skin was warm,
and Her scent was like the memory of something I had lost.
She pulled away from me, smiling, and beckoned, "Come"
We raced through the woods,
side by side, swift as deer,
'til we fairly flew over brush and stones and trees.
We scaled a mountain,
ancient and majestic.
She held my hand when I thought I'd fall.
We alighted atop the mountain,
amongst the pines and the stars,
It was there I met the God.
He squatted alone before a raging fire.
The flames danced in His fierce eyes,
flickering across His brow,
and cavorting round His horns.
As He stood to greet us,
every muscle rippled in the soft wavering light.
He and the Goddess embraced,
as lovers do,
and then they turned to me.
I became ashamed of my impurities, my ugliness.
They reached out, and held me close,
assuring me that I was always perfect in their eyes
And then I awoke
A child of my Goddess and God forever
