Ritual is an element necessary to feed the spiritual side of our nature. It is the language of the unconscious. Science has it's place, but all too often we neglect the other side of our brain and the subconscious by depriving it of ritual and symbolism it needs to grow and be fully active. Art, writing, play, metaphor, creativity, and ritual these are the realms of the subconscious. According to Jung and other delvers, this is also the way we can tap into the collective unconscious" a pool of ancestral wisdom.
We create and percieve our universe through our use of language and other symbols. Magick often employs this power, the power of naming, symbols and the written word. Whether this takes the form of taking a magickal name, using sympathetic magick, or using runes to write down our magickal intentions.
